WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES A DAY MAKE? EARTH DAY AT 50
2020

CREATIVE CONTENT /
PRINT DESIGN
While at Studio Airport (NL), I worked on producing creative content and visual accompaniment to journalism and media for the online publication Emergence Magazine.
‘What Difference Does a Day Make? Earth Day at 50’ is an article by writer and editor Paul Elie which required visual content to run alongside the story spanning 5 decades. I created archival-style documents referencing points in the article, using an inkjet printer, a two-hole punch and high-resolution scanning to reproduce authentic records.
The article also addresses the growth of parts per million carbon released into the atmosphere over a 50-year period and focused heavily on our environmental development, or lack thereof, since the inaugural Earth Day in 1971. To visually capture this expansion, I created a series of cards mimicking the Hollerith punch cards used for data recording and storage throughout the 20th century.
